Get a cool looking stamp, something that is geometric in design if you're still sticking with the modern look. Put some paint on the stamp and then put it on the area rug. Now you have created a new area rug that will fit in great with the new look of your room. And again you haven't spent a lot of money.

But let's say that the area rugs you have don't go with the colors you are changing the room too? Well than you need to go and buy a cheap area rug that is a color that will fit into the room. All you need to do is use the stamp on this new rug and change the look of it so it will fit in nicely. Or if you want you can even leave it plain if it fits in the room nicely already.
