Instead, take advantage of your resources. If you have a credit card that allows you to accrue points, see if you can cash them in for a free or flight specials UNDER 100 dollars. I mean, if you use your credit card, why not get something more out of it?

The airlines themselves sometimes offer cheap air travel fares. This is done especially during the vacations and lean periods. A trip that cost me upwards of a thousand dollars could be converted to a plane tickets for less than 100 dollars option if only I kept a look out for the seasonal and promotional prices offered by the airlines. Often, these seasonal rebates were even better than the cheap air travel options offered by the largest and the best travel agents.

 There are lots of people who will never spend a single penny on a flight because they take advantage of their credit card miles and points. If you don’t like the idea of credit card debt, you can always have a plan to pay off everything in full each time your bill arrives. You get to keep the points or miles and you don’t carry a balance from month to month.

It's not to me! Air travel is not like it used to be.
